The Golden State is of course home to many railfan sites, including some of the most renowned in the world.
Oakland/East Bay
Jack London Square- One of my favorite locations, with a couple of yards on either side.
Embarcadero- Just south of Jack London along the Embarcadero is a set of rail-served industries, including a large Con-Agra plant.
Oakland Rail Yard- Just north of Jack London Square is the Oakland Rail Yard, a large mainly intermodal UP yard. Some mixed freight is staged here as well, and it serves the Port of Oakland container shippers.
