Utah Railfan locations

Utah is one of the most picturesque states in the nation. It is also a wonderful spot for those of us who find railroads fascinating. There are a lot of railroad tracks all over the place, with a variety of traffic. It is also home to Promontory Point, the site of the joining of the Transcontinental Railroad, linking the west coast with the eastern part of the country by rail.

Utah has the great advantage of having incredible natural beauty, which can provide a terrific backdrop for photos. My pics don't do it justice, but it's a new favorite of mine. Throw in a few crown jewels of our National Park system (Arches, Bryce, Zion) and you have a wonderful destination.

Moab/Arches National Park Area

South of I-70 near the town of Green River is the small town of Moab, near the gateway of Arches National Park. It's really one of the best parks in the country, with fantastic scenery (eroded rock formations). It also has a rail line in front- woo hoo!
