Prototype Information

With the advent of 60' boxcars for autoparts, some railroads looked to taller versions for more space to load.

Model Information

The car started as an Athearn undecorated autoparts boxcar. I cut it down, taking sections out of either side of the door (this was an 86' four-door car, not the 8-door). I then melded them together to get the single shell.

I then added wire grabs and an extra layer on the body, to recess the end panels. Not a bad result for me!

Now that Exactrail has come out with their version of this car, which is really quite good, my efforts are now a bit in vain. However, I also have a WP Exactrail copy, so I can have a reference for an eventual upgrade.
